Cataract Eye Camp in Bhutan

Dr Yeoh of ERS joined a team of doctors led by Dr Sanduk Ruit from Nepal on a mass cataract eye camp in Thimphu, the capitol of Bhutan. Altogether, more than a hundred patients blind from cataracts came from all over Bhutan to have this sight restoring operation performed over a period of two days. The operations were successful in restoring eye sight.

As part of an ongoing process to deliver quality eye care to the poorer people of Bhutan, funds have been donated to set up an eye hospital in Thimphu, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness, the Queen Mother of Bhutan. Dr Yeoh who is President of the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (APACRS) will also be contributing his time and expertise in performing more free cataract surgery to the needy in Bhutan as part of the APACRS corporate social responsibility programme.
